It is with great sadness that David & Bernard Rhodes announce the passing of their Dad Brian.
Brian moved to Ballymena in late 1969 when he joined the management team at Michelin, where he worked until his retirement. Brian lived with the family initially in Beechvale, Broughshane and later in Kells.
Brian was married three times, albeit some would say four times as his fourth ‘wife’ was certainly Michelin.
Brian also enjoyed taking an active role in the community with his colleagues at the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In particular helping to organise the annual fireworks displays held at the Ballymena Showgrounds.
He had a passion for his work and even up until his last few days was talking about Michelin and all the people he worked with. Brian was planning to come and visit Ballymena this year but due to an accident when travelling back home from the Philippines, this was not possible.
Brian did not fully recover from the accident and passed away early on Friday 18th May having just celebrated his 80th Birthday.
Brian, much loved by his family will be sorely missed as he was very much the patriarch of the family, always giving freely of his support and advice.
Brian’s funeral will be held later in June in Yorkshire, his place of birth. He will be reunited with his Mum and Dad and brother George.
If anyone would like details of the funeral, please contact Bernard via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The family have requested no floral tributes. Please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice should you wish to do so in memory on Brian.
